"Two Little Boys" is a song written American composer Theodore F. Morse and lyricist Edward Madden. It was written in 1902 and became a popular music hall song of the time, especially Scottish singer Harry Lauder.It describes the story of two boys who grow up to fight in a war. The merest hints of the former villages of Milton, Fratton and Hilsea before they were swallowed the rapid Victorian expansion of Portsmouth east and north, with a few old houses (including the TE Owen former vicarage opposite the impressive St Mary’s church, Gatcombe and Great Saltern houses). Thomas Matthew (Tom) Ronan (1907-1976), author, was born on 11 November 1907 in Perth, second child of Victorian-born parents Denis James (Jim) Ronan, station-manager, and his wife Julia, n�e Richardson (d.1919).
